With the support and guidance of the 午夜影院 Enterprise Team, student Daniel Read has successfully relaunched a specialist ice hockey business while navigating the realities of study, work, and family life.

Currently studying Business Management at 午夜影院, Daniel is in the foundation year of his four-year degree. The flexibility of the programme has allowed him to balance academic commitments with running a business - while also caring for his newborn son.

Established in 2022 and relaunched in 2025, Entity Ice Hockey supplies new and nearly new ice hockey products to players, coaches, and fans across both B2C and B2B markets.

Enterprise Support Beyond the Classroom

Daniel credits the 午夜影院 Enterprise Team with helping him gain clarity, confidence, and control over his business operations.

鈥Access to data, payment systems, and practical guidance has made a huge difference,鈥 he said. 鈥Revenue has stabilised and grown without increasing stock levels or budgets - which has been a massive win.鈥

The Enterprise Team鈥檚 open-door approach has also supported Daniel through unexpected challenges.

鈥When I received an invoice for business rates, I was able to get immediate advice,鈥 he explained. 鈥淭hat support stopped me from panicking and helped me deal with it properly.鈥

Learning From Experience

One of the most valuable lessons Daniel has taken from his Enterprise Officer, Mark Crabtree, is the importance of cashflow.

鈥Businesses don鈥檛 fail - they just run out of money,鈥 he said. 鈥That advice has helped me avoid several costly mistakes.鈥

Early-stage guidance also helped Daniel reassess the direction of his business, leading to the decision to relaunch independently with a clearer product focus.

A Clearer Vision for Growth

By refining his market, strengthening his brand message, and improving routes to market through social media and online platforms, Daniel has laid strong foundations for future expansion.

Ongoing support and regular progress check-ins continue to keep him accountable and focused.
